Premiere Macho Macho Share Single Video Blink

Te Whanganui-a-Tara four-piece Macho Macho explode into the new year with their new single / video double whammy ‘Blink‘, which we’re stoked to premiere here this morning. Not in fact an ode to the bearded ALowHum founder and Synthstrom rep, the punchy yet rhythmically zig-zagging ‘Blink’ considers the push / pull dynamic of social interaction with melodic hooks aplenty. Directed by Samuel Austin and made with support from NZ On Air, actor Jessie Alsop stars as increasingly frazzled real estate agent Gloria Rayne in the song’s action-packed visuals, inviting the band (plus special guests including Brooke Singer of French For Rabbits) into a variety of suburban abodes — a frantic scenario filmed in just one day around Seatoun, "inspired by a real-life real estate agent in the director’s life".

Now veterans of the stage following more than four years of gigging with the likes of The Garden (US), Same Name Confusion, and Daffodils, as well as festival appearances at CubaDupa, Newtown Festival, and Welcome to Nowhere, you can join Macho Macho with top notch supports Linen and CINDY (travelling from Tāmaki Makaurau) for a Saturday night single release rager at Valhalla on 28th January. Produced, engineered and mixed by Toby Lloyd, smash play on ‘Blink’, grip the gig details, and keep your ears peeled for a new EP from the team of Logan McAllister, Lachlan Burne, Connor Lyttle, and Dayne Robinson in the near future…

“‘Blink’ is about the moments spent resisting and / or engaging with the social scenarios we find ourselves in. The screeching of a speaker, the blinking of an eye, a feeling of real togetherness achieved through little more than a bit of silly music.”
